Department of Economics & International Business (includes Experimental Statistics)

Economics is important to consumers, business managers, government policy-makers & anyone who is curious about the way people earn their living. Economics explains why prices rise or fall; why incomes are high or low; why people live better in some countries than in others; why recessions & unemployment occur, and why governments play active roles in the economy.

The Master of Science degree in Experimental Statistics produces graduates proficient in current practices in statistics and able to enter directly into positions in industry, government or private business. You will have the skills required to help researchers outside of statistics execute data analyses, design experiments, and/or plan & analyze biological surveys or surveys obtained by mail, phone or personal interview.

Marketing is the organizational function that matches the organization's production with buyer needs. It is the responsibility of marketing to develop the revenue that allows the organization to survive. Most marketing majors enter into careers with business firms, although some find job opportunities in government and others in non-profit organizations. Still others become involved in owning and managing their independent companies. Because of the increasing attention on meeting customer needs, there is a growing demand for well-educated marketing graduates.

NMSU is sanctioned by the Professional Golfer's Association (PGA) of America to offer a Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program. The 4½ -year program leads to a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing and a specialization in Professional Golf Management.
