- Deadlines:
- Prior to November 15 for the spring semester
- Prior to March 15 for the fall semester
- Eligibility
- Accepted by or registered in the Graduate School.
- A 3.00 GPA or higher.
- Admission to the Master of Accountancy program as a “regular” graduate student.
- An undergraduate bachelor’s degree in business administration or a closely related field, or completion of substantially all of the foundation courses.
- Foreign candidates must successfully complete the International Teaching Assistant Development course, Communication Studies 485, before they receive a teaching assistantship. This is an intense course taught during the last 3 weeks of Summer Session II. The course helps to evaluate and assess international students’ teaching and communication skills. It also evaluates how a student relates to a class while teaching. Scholarships are available for students who have come from abroad early enough to take this course.
- In some cases, foreign students can go through a screening instead of taking the course during emergency situations; for example, students who did not arrive in time to take the Communications Studies 485 course or who don’t have a visa. Screenings consist of giving a 10-minute presentation and being evaluated on teaching and communication skills as well as how the student relates to a class. Screenings can be scheduled in early December and late April to early May.
- If you need more information about the International Teaching Assistant Development course, please contact Judith Messal at 646-3629. If you need more information about the screenings, please contact the Communications Students Department at 646-2801.
