Distance Education & 2+2 Programs

Distance Education

The distance education undergraduate programs offered by the College of Business are degree completion programs. That is, they are designed to provide the upper-division courses required for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Call our college’s Advising Center toll free number 800.646.1901 or 575.646.3836 if you have questions about transferring credits from out-of-state institutions.

Our Student Tools page provides you with a variety of resources covering STAR Degree audits, advising information, FAQs, etc.

We also have MBA programs provided through distance education.

2+2 Program

The 2+2 program is named to indicate that you can complete the first two years of your college education at a 2-year institution such as a community college and the last two years at a 4-year institution. If you have substantially completed your lower-division classes for the 2+2 program at another institution, you will need to send an official transcript(s) to the NMSU Admissions Office (575.646.3121 or 800.662.6678):

NMSU Student Affairs and Enrollment Management: Undergraduate Admissions
PO Box 30001, MSC 3A
Las Cruces, NM 88003-8001

Requirements

Students are expected to have substantially completed their lower-division requirements, including general education requirements. These lower-division requirements may be completed at a junior or community college.

For example, take your first 2 years of courses at either

  • a community college in New Mexico, or
  • at New Mexico State University (NMSU) or another 4-year institution, or
  • via the Internet from NMSU campuses.

Then take your last 2 years of courses on the Internet to complete your degree

  • through NMSU’s Distance Education program.

NMSU’s Distance Education office in the College of Extended Learning has comprehensive information about distance education; self-evaluation tests about distance education and technical skills to see if distance ed is the right choice for you; as well as registration, scheduling and tuition and financial aid information.

Business Degree Completion Programs

BBA: Marketing Major

This degree completion program is available via the Internet. The Marketing major is well suited to students interested in understanding why we buy what we buy, and using that knowledge to create goods and services which satisfy the customer. If your work schedule or location is preventing you from finishing your business degree, we may have the solution through NMSU’s Distance Education program.

BBA: General Business Major

This degree completion program is available via the Internet. The General Business major is well suited to students interested in taking a broad range of business courses rather than specializing in a single business discipline. It is also an appropriate choice for students who may want to start their own businesses or work in a family business.

BBA: General Business Major. Option: Tribal Management

This option is available via the Internet for Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute students. SIPI and NMSU created the Tribal Management program jointly to prepare students to enter positions of managerial responsibility in tribal enterprises.
