Information Systems Specialization

Degree Plan/Application for Candidacy

Students specializing in information systems must take additional coursework beyond that required to complete the MBA degree program.

Note that BCS 540, BCS 584 and BCS 595 require students to have the ability to program in at least one language (preferably Java). This programming language prerequisite requirement means that many students will have to complete 12-18 credit hours of coursework beyond that required for the general MBA degree.

The four 3-hour courses that constitute the Specialization in Information Systems are:

  • BCS 540 Information System Analysis and Design
  • BCS 584 Object-Oriented Systems Development Techniques
  • BCS 586 Data Communications and Networks
  • BCS 595 Database Management Systems
