Software Licensing, Information & Installation

Installing Software

Submit a work order or call the BC Lab for assistance with installing software on university-owned computers.

Sophos Virus Protection

NMSU pays for a blanket license of Sophos virus protection software. This software is available to all faculty, staff and students free of charge and can be installed on all university-owned computers and personal home use computers.

Microsoft

We have just renewed our Microsoft Campus Agreement. The College pays the annual fee that provides software licensing for all FTE’s and all GA’s. All eligible employees can use this licensing agreement for their equipment on campus as well as for home use. Microsoft products for home use can no longer be checked out from the BC Lab. If you require any of the Microsoft products for home use, you must visit the Business Operations Department, Room 148 and present your NMSU ID. There is a small fee for the media that ranges from $7 – $9.

Server Products are NOT covered. The Microsoft Campus Agreement covers:

Operating Systems

  • Windows 98
  • Windows ME
  • Windows NT Workstation
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7

Software

  • Office (includes: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Powerpoint)
  • Frontpage
  • Project

WinZip

WinZip is a licensed software program. The College has paid for licenses all departments, labs and classrooms. If you need it for home use or for additional computers, the cost is $4/license (one-time fee).

Department-Funded Software

The following software licenses are paid from departmental funds on an as-needed basis. Renewable software charges are renewed each fiscal year.

SAS

Available for $50/year per concurrent user; also available to students in classrooms BC115 and GU303 and in the BC Computer Lab.

SPSS

Available for $368/year per user.

The SPSS product line available with the NMSU site license includes:

  • SPSS Base
  • Tables
  • Regression Models
  • Advanced Models
  • Trends
  • Conjoint
  • Catagories
  • Amos

Adobe

Adobe 9 Pro(Full Version) used to create PDF Files is available for $50 (one time, nonrenewable charge).

We  have special licenses for all Adobe products. Contact Paul Hamilton for special pricing information.
