About Andrea Tawney
Andrea Tawney, Ph.D., joined New Mexico State University’s College of Business May 23, 2011. She brings several years of experience in successful development and grant writing work to the college. She is delighted to be at NMSU and is looking forward to contributing to and propelling the fundraising efforts of the college.
Andrea is originally from Sacramento, CA, but has spent most of her adult life in the Southwest while serving active duty in the Air Force in Tucson, AZ. She earned a bachelor’s degree in justice systems, policy and planning and a master’s in education from Northern Arizona University. Recently, Andrea completed her Ph.D. in higher education from Texas Tech University. Her dissertation focused on the predictors of academic success for first-generation college students.
Dr. Tawney has eight years of university experience as both an administrator and a faculty member while at the University of Arizona and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She has also served as a fundraising and grants consultant for a number of colleges, universities, and hospitals.
