Financial Support
At New Mexico State University there are primarily three different types of financial aid available to MBA students, graduate assistantships, scholarships, and summer fellowships.
All applications need to mailed to the MBA Director by the appropriate deadline.
Graduate Assistantships
The MBA Program has a relatively small number of graduate assistantships. While some assistantships require special skills or backgrounds, most are open to any full-time MBA student who meets the following eligiblity requirements.
Eligibility
- Admission to the MBA program as a "REGULAR" graduate student.
- Must have an undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Must have a GMAT score of 480 or higher.
- International students must be declared eligible through the International Teaching Assistant screening process. (Screenings are held in April for Fall and December for Spring).
Conditions
- Graduate assistants work 10 or 20 hours per week and are employed on the same calendar period as the faculty. Fall: August - December, Spring: January - May.
- Graduate assistants must be enrolled in at least 9 graded credits of graduate level course work per semester.
- Graduate assistants must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Tuition
Full-time or part-time graduate assistants are allowed to enroll as New Mexico residents during the first year of their assistantships. However, if they have not taken the steps necessary to become New Mexico residents by the beginning of their second year, they may be required to pay non-resident/out-of-state tuition.
Application Procedures
- A graduate assistanshipt application form , three letters of recommendation , and a resume are required. Application and recommendation forms are available in the MBA Program Office located in 114 Guthrie Hall.
- Applicants are responsible for insuring that their letters of recommendation are received by the MBA Program prior to the deadline.

Scholarships
The College of Business offers a number of scholarships. Only one application form is required for any of the scholarships being offered. You can fill out an application online or pick one up from the MBA Program Office in 114 Guthrie Hall.
The scholarships are highly competitive. Qualifications for individual scholarships are established by donors and are found in the NMSU Financial Aid & Scholarship Guide. Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee with the concurrence of the donors.

Summer Fellowships
The College of Business offers a number of summer fellowships. Only one application form is required for any of the fellowships being offered. You can fill out an application online or pick one up from the MBA Program Office in 114 Guthrie Hall.
The fellowships are highly competitive. Fellowship stipends vary in amount, generally between $600 to $700, and require that the recipient work between 60 to 70 hours during the summer session for which the fellowship is awarded. The recipient must also be enrolled in at least 3 graded credits during that summer session.
