COURSE DESCRIPTION: 388G Leadership & Society: Exploration of the multifaceted nature of leadership in (post) modern society through readings, exercises, skits, & seminar discussion. Leadership is theatre!

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: This course examines the theatrical role of leadership. We begin with the traditional "In the Box" leadership areas (i.e. Traits, Behavior, Situation, Situation, Power, Charisma, Transaction, & Transformation). Theatrics of leadership is what we call going "Out of the Box" of traditional leadership.

ASSIGNMENTS (policy: miss a class FOR ANY REASON, must post a make up 2 page assignment or take cut grade 5% each non-makeup); Series of 6 short written assignments will be evaluated, (2 are inclass non-writing). Must be typed. NO CELL PHONES or Text messaging!

• INDIVIDUAL assignments average score. There are 6 20 points each 3 page (single spaced) stories you write of memory-experience using several scenes in characters using quoted dialog, with application of 3 cited parts of assigned chapter in online book (good news we do 2 of these in-class, but you can only get credit if and only if you are there, otherwise write one up on your own; AND this is averaged with the last NON-WRITTEN assignment, called "co-experience" and is worth 100 points, averaged together).............. 30%

• Daily attendance [deduct 20% if you miss your team event (No Excuses Accepted); You can do a makeup assignment for any other missed day (due within 48 hours of the missed day - Attendance Make Ups] .......... 30%

• TEAM SKIT EVENT - Average of performance score as judged by audience, team write up of script and commentary as rated by instructor, and 360 peer review by team mates. ............... 30%

• PARTICIPATES in Class events and does good effort on their Team Event; GOOD SPECT-ACTOR (note this is a rating by the instructor) Note this item includes Instructor assessment of Responsible Citizenship (that means if you sit and do homework for some other class, instead of being alertly involved totally AWAKE in this class, you loose points) .............. 10%
