WEB CT Room
|
This is one of those rooms that is supposed to be good for you, but sometimes
it can be a bit painful. There are all kinds of new commands to follow, and
if you do not follow instructions you can get really lost. We are supposed to
train you for those new virtual corporations, so this is where we start.
- WEB CT Go to http://salsa.nmsu.edu
if you do not have an ID to log into the WEB CT. You need to create
your own LOGON ID before you can be added to WEB CT.
- WEB CT 503 Log
In (new window opens for just 503 log in). The menu bar at far left gives
you 3 entry ports to get into WEB CT. Also pressing the Question Number
takes you into the site, and inside the Bulletin Forum area, where ANSWERS,
and RESPONSES get posted for 503 questions.
- Head for the Bulletin Forum area of main menu, if you are entering using
the WEB CT entry ports in the left hand frame.
- ONCE INSIDE WEB CT LOG IN WINDOW --- You put in an ID (usually first initial
of First Name and five or six letters of last name in lower case), then put
in your password, which is sometimes your social security and is always whatever
password you use for your NMSU email account).
- WEB CT Instructions
(first timers read this study guide)
- WEB CT courses WebCT server
site (with some info for you and link to your classes)
- WEB CT General Log
In (lists all your WEB CT enrolled courses, including 503 if you are
in the class list.
- WEB CT 503 Log
In (direct to the 503 page).
- WEB CT SEAM CODE PAGE is a different page SEAM
Log In (if you can not get in, use ID-aggie359 and PASS=adventure
(note this is different site than 503 answer page).
- If you have trouble with your ID and Password, use ID=webct359 and PASS=trainme
(lowercase in either 503 or SEAM code sites). Be sure to sign your message
(or code work) since, we can not tell one webct359 user from another unless
you put your name in the message.
- NOTE: In 2002 because email accounts are no longer generated automatically,
new students must first request their Logon IDs. The details on
how to do this are available through the WebCT logon page at http://salsa.nmsu.edu.
In the "Need Help Logging On?" area, students should lick the
For Students link. The page that comes up contains step by step directions
for either checking to see what a current Logon ID is, or for creating
a new one.
- GRADES - After Boje scores the 503 answers (and Buddy responses),
he posts them on the 503 WEB CT site. Go to 503 Log In, then to "Student
Tools - Question Grades." There you will find your grade on the
question. Also, GO TO "EMAIL Can Find Question FEEDBACK from BOJE"
here.
- RESPONDERS to questions - post your response to the STUDENTS' answer, by
clicking the answer and doing a REPLY (not PRIVATE REPLY), just REPLY -- sign
it (especially if you are using aggie359). Be sure to click on the correct
QUESTION #, otherwise your RESPONSE will land in Land of OZ.
- TROUBLE contact mhillon@hotmail.com
or in a panic, call Boje at 505-532-1693. You will learn it all eventually
(be patient and reward yourself for progress).
- WHAT IF BUDDY does not have an ANSWER posted. Try refresh. Try email to
them. If all else fails, check WEB CT before class, and if that fails, see
them in class.
- WHAT IF BUDDY is out of town? You chose them. You as ANSWERER
and You who RESPONDS are responsible to complete the assignment by email with
each other (will take 2 or 3 rounds) if either one is late, absent, or flubs
the assignment. BUDDY
EXERCISE is to be done in class, if not then out of class (and the record
of your inter-email, then emailed to dboje@nmsu.edu

very bureaucratic room it is. I think it is time to move along
