Description: This seminar would look at how international business stories itself, and how  it is, in turn, storied from various international perspectives.

"Restorying" provides a framework for understanding and managing large scale  systems change. The "Transorganizational Development" perspective is seen as the latest evolution of large scale systems change theory, which incorporates chaos and complexity theory, critical theory, postmodernism, and appreciative inquiry, all while maintaining and promoting the possibility of proactive  positive change. The role of popular trends such as reengineering and downsizing will be thoroughly examined. Global practices will be critiqued from a local perspective, and international "best practices" will be explored.

Students will contribute their perspectives to build critiques of global business practices, and to deconstruct the stories of global capitalism. The seminar will include stories of ethical issues in international human resources management, worker health and safety, the role of women and indigenous peoples, and environmental sustainability. Case examples will be drawn from Nike, Reebok, Disney, and Expatriate Cases.
