UNITED STUDENTS AGAINST SWEATSHOPS is a non-violent alternative to the slides you see above. We engage in peaceful acts of consciousness raising. Here are Actions you that can bring about an end to universities contracting and licensing their logo to the sweatshops, selling garments in our NMSU bookstore.
Do you know how little a worker in a sweatshop is paid to sew the NMSU logo onto a sweatshirt, cap, or T-shirt you buy in the bookstore? Get the facts.
Why do College Women wear garments made in Sweatshops by Third World Women without the Right to a Living Wage or the Right to Organize? Have you seen the posters of the Volleyball team of New Mexico State University pinned up around campus? Look closely at the uniforms. There are Swooshes on them. What kind of licensing agreement does the Nike Corporation have with NMSU? Where are these uniforms made? What kind of monitoring of these sweatshops is being effected by NMSU to insure that the mostly young women workers sewing the Swoosh on the Volleyball Uniforms are not being exploited?
