DED Implementation Process
The Doctor of Economic Development is a new degree program. Details of the program will be developed over the Summer of 2007 with faculty approval expected in early Fall 2007. Applications will be accepted beginning in Fall 2007 for admission in Fall 2008. This allows accepted applicants to remedy admission deficiencies in the Spring 2008 and/or Summer 2008 semesters.
Flexible Delivery
Students in the DED program will include both in residence students at NMSU , and others who will be professionals working away from campus. Course schedules, delivery methods, and delivery locations will vary depending on the mix of resident and non-resident students in a given semester but all courses will have a significant face-to-face component where professors and students directly interact. Applicants should understand that they may sometimes have to travel to classes and/or attend classes at non traditional times.
Financial aid
Students in residence may be eligible to receive financial aid in the form of graduate teaching and research assistantships. Graduate assistants will assist the faculty with research and/or teaching and may work on other projects depending on the source of the assistantship funds.
