Submission Requirements

Introduction

The 10th International Human Resource Management Conference is accepting submissions for the June 21-24, 2009 conference in Santa Fe, NM, USA. Papers may be submitted in the form of an abstract or a full paper. The submission deadline is March 31, 2009. Papers are to be submitted by email to Dr. Wesley Scroggins at ihrmsubmit@business.nmsu.edu. Please adhere to the following guidelines when formatting your submission.

General Rules

1. It is assumed that submissions will represent original research. Therefore, submitted papers must not have been previously presented, scheduled for presentation, published, or accepted for publication.
2. The entire paper (title page, abstract, main text, figures, tables, references, etc.) should be submitted in one document. The required file format is Microsoft Word 2003 or later (.DOC).
3. For both abstract and full paper submissions, use Times New Roman 12-point font, 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins all around, and an 8.5 x 11 page setting. Please single space the entire document.
4. Number all of the pages of the paper.
5. Except for the title page, remove all author-identifying information from the paper.

Abstract Submissions

1. All abstracts must be a minimum of 500 words of text (excluding title page, references, and any figures.)
2. Include author name and contact information only on the title page.
3. Format the title page as follows:
     a. Use ALL CAPS and bold for the title of the paper. Center the title on the page.
     b. Drop down one line from the title and place author(s) name(s) and contact information. Bold each author name. Provide affiliation, mailing address, phone number, fax number and email address for each author. Center this information.
     c. At the bottom of the title page, indicate which author will serve as the contact author for the paper.
4. On page 2, state the title of the paper again at the top of the page. Center the title, using ALL CAPS and bold as on the title page.
5. Drop down 5 lines and begin the text of the paper.
6. Center and bold major headings, using both upper and lower case.
7. Indent the first line of each paragraph, but do not put a space between paragraphs.
8. For sub-headings, use upper and lower case, bold, and left align (justify) the heading on the page.
9. Format references as described below in the references section.
10. Place all tables, figures and appendices at the end of the paper after the references.

Full Paper Submissions

1. There is no minimum or maximum length requirement set for full papers, but it is recommended that full papers not exceed much more than 30 pages in length.
2. Include author name and contact information only on the title page.
3. Format the title page as follows:
     a. Use ALL CAPS and bold for the title of the paper. Center the title on the page.
     b. Drop down one line from the title and place author(s) name(s) and contact information. Bold each author name. Provide affiliation, mailing address, phone number, fax number and email address for each author. Center this information.
     c. At the bottom of the title page, indicate which author will serve as the contact author for the paper.
4. On page 2, state the title of the paper again at the top of the page. Center the title, using ALL CAPS and bold as on the title page.
5. Drop down 5 lines from the title and place the word “Abstract”, centered on the page in bold using upper and lower case letters. On the next line, place the abstract (100 words maximum) in Times New Roman 10 point font (Abstract only). Do not indent the first line of the abstract.
6. Drop down 6 lines and begin the text of the paper in Times New Roman 12 point font.
7. Center and bold major headings, using both upper and lower case.
8. Indent the first line of each paragraph, but do not put a space between paragraphs.
9. For sub-headings, use upper and lower case, bold, and left align (justify) the heading on the page.
10. Format references as described below in the references section.
11. Place all tables, figures and appendices at the end of the paper after the references.

References

The references should immediately follow the text or main body of the paper. The American Psychological Association (APA) 5th edition is the required style for citing references in the text and for formatting references in the Reference section of the paper.

1. Use the hanging indent feature on the word processor when formatting references.
2. Single space references; however, leave a space between each reference.
3. References should be entered in alphabetical order by author last name.

Example APA style references.

Shavelson, R.J., Hubner, J. J., & Stanton, G. C. (1976). Self-concept: Validation of construct
     interpretations. Review of Educational Research, 46, 407-441.

Straka, G. A. (1999). Perceived work conditions and self-directed learning in the process of
     work. International Journal of Training and Development, 3(4), 240-249.
