Brief Biographical Sketch


Dr. Michael R. Hyman is Professor and Ph.D. Coordinator of Marketing at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Dr. Hyman received his B.S. in psychology from the University of Maryland; he received his M.S. and Ph.D. in marketing from Purdue University. He is a member of the American Marketing Association, the American Academy of Advertising, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Society for Marketing Advances. He serves on nine editorial review boards, including Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice. His scholarly work has appeared in Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Direct Marketing, Journal of Advertising, International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, Business Horizons, Journal of Business Ethics, Business and Professional Ethics Journal, Business Ethics: A European Review, Business and Society Review, Journal of Academic Ethics, International Journal of Applied Philosophy, Marketing Education Review, Journal of Marketing Education, Journal of Education for Business, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Australasian Marketing Journal, International Marketing Review, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, Health Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Empirical Generalizations in Marketing Science, Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship, The Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Vacation Marketing, The Open Business Journal, Journal of Business and Economic Studies, and numerous national and regional proceedings. His current research interests include advertising, ethics, survey research methods, knowledge acquisition in academia, and philosophical analyses in marketing.

He's acclimated well to New Mexico. Although he still spends too much time on his computer, he never wears a tie to class, rides his motorcycle and plays bogey golf when possible, dotes on his two sons, and can't imagine a week without green chilis.
