New Mexico State University Career Services will hold the Career Connections 2009 to offer students an opportunity to meet with employers on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Wednesday, Jan. 28. The career fair will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms.
Students can expect to meet with representatives from Boeing, Exxon Mobil Corporation, Frito Lay, Peace Corps, USDA Forest Service and many more employers about co-ops and internships, as well as summer and professional employment.
The first and second day will be divided into job themes. The first day will focus on business, agricultural, liberal arts and allied health. The second day will focus on engineering, science and technology.
“Career Connections will kick off the campus recruiting season,” said Rosanne Bensley, the associate director of NMSU Career Services. “There will be about 100 or more employers at the fair during the two days, and we encourage students to participate in both days to make even more opportunities.”
Bensley also said the students who are most successful at the job fairs are those who have researched the business or company before they have met with them.
Participants should dress business casual and bring copies of their resume to make good impressions with the employers. Registration with Career Services also is highly encouraged for continued contact with employers throughout the spring semester.
