New Mexico State University Career Services will hold Career Connections 2010 to provide students and the community opportunities to meet with employers Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 26 and 27, in the Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms.

The first and second day will be divided into job themes. The first day will focus on business, agricultural and liberal arts. The second day will focus on engineering, science and technology. Candidates are encouraged to attend both days for the greatest interaction with employers.

About 100 employers are expected to attend the event, including Apple Inc., First American Bank, Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“The fact we have close to 100 employers already confirmed to attend means that candidates need to take advantage that these employers want to hire people,” said Roseanne Bensley, associate director of NMSU Career Services. “Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to apply for internships and co-ops so that they can start to build a relationship with an employer for the future.”

Candidates at Career Connections should bring numerous copies of their resume to give to employers and dress in appropriate interview attire. They can also log on to AggieTRAK on the Career Service Web site for a full list of attending employers and to research the employers they are interested in. Bensley said the students who are most successful at the job fairs are those who have researched the employers before they have met with them.
