Chihuahuan visitors explore opportunities
The Hispaño Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces on Thursday, June 21, will host four events, including a foreign trade mission starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Ave.
Activities will be scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening for businesses on both sides of the border interested in working together.
From 3 to 4:50 p.m., business resource providers in Las Cruces will give workshops. Presenters will include representatives of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Association, Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University and the City of Las Cruces.
From 5 to 5:30 p.m., an attorney specializing in fiscal issues will speak on the topic Legal Issues for Foreign Investors.
The trade mission will be held in conjunction with an annual business-to-business expo. At the expo, chamber members will showcase their products and services.
The day will end with the Hispaño Chamber’s June mix ’n’ mingle.
For the first time, the expo will be open to the public from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. during the mix ’n’ mingle.
“Last year the mixer focused on the foreign delegation,” said Christine Logan, Las Cruces economic development administrator. “Instead of telling them about the business community in Las Cruces, this year we can show them. The expo and mixer give the business community an opportunity to tell its own story. It’s a much better model.”
The broader-based mixer will showcase Las Cruces as a friendly community, she said.
