Memorial service for faculty member Peter Wichert set for July 9 at NMSU

New Mexico State University faculty, staff, students, family and friends will gather on Friday, July 9, for a memorial service in honor of Peter Wichert. The service will begin at 7 p.m. at NMSU’s Corbett Center Auditorium.

Wichert died June 24 at age 45.

Wichert had been a faculty and staff member in the College of Business Administration and Economics over various periods of time since the mid-1980s and was currently a college assistant professor in the finance department. His teaching experience also included positions at the College of Santa Fe, Dona Ana Branch Community College and the University of Phoenix.

He was the owner of Plexis Consulting, a consulting firm providing financial planning and assistance for out-placed executives and self-employed individuals, since 1995. He enjoyed mountain biking, literature and community economic development.

Wichert earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from New Mexico State, his master’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and his MBA in finance from NMSU.

A memorial fund has been created to honor Wichert. Contributions can be made to the NMSU Foundation and sent to the Department of Finance, P.O. Box 30001, MSC 3FIN, College of Business Administration and Economics, Las Cruces, NM 88003.
