Business executive and New Mexico State University alumnus, Bill Sheriff, speaks to College of Business Ambassador students Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the College of Business about his business background.

Sheriff has served in the executive management career nearly five decades.

A former Las Crucen, Sheriff got his start managing his family’s truck stop business, eventually becoming president of Truckstops Division for 11 years.

He then went on to spend the next three decades as chairman and CEO of American Retirement Corporation and Brookdale Senior Living.

Last Fall, the Sheriff’s gift of $1 million established the Bill and Sharon Sheriff Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship to the New Mexico State University College of Business along with more than $60,000 to establish a scholarship for business students.
