Many business activities require skills in perspective taking and empathy. This article explains how graphic narratives can be incorporated into the educational process to help business students develop these skills. The graphic narrative format offers significant educational potential in areas that require persons to be more cognizant in the observation of, interpretation of, and reflection upon interpersonal interactions in complex settings and environments.

The New Mexico economy is struggling: Private sector job gains aren’t enough to offset government job losses

The New Mexico economy is struggling. In the three years ending November 2012, the latest date for which we have data, New Mexico employment grew less than any of the other 50 states. A closer look by sector reveals that the private sector continues to grow, albeit slowly, while government employment, especially state government, employment remains a drag.

It’s a new year, but the economic statistics haven’t turned a new leaf, still indicating a sharp decline in economic activity. Statewide employment declined 0.6 percent compared to a year previous according to the establishment survey. The state ranked 49th out of 50 states for the third month in a role, beating only West Virginia in job growth. Las Cruces is losing jobs at a rate of 3.5 percent, year-over-year.
