Trends in New Mexico Economy, 2002 to 2012

Every once-in-a-while, it helps give perspective to take a look at the longer term dynamics of the New Mexico economy. Here we look at employment and productivity from 2002 to 2012. Employment growth in New Mexico outpaced national employment growth, but New Mexico productivity lagged behind.

New Mexico continues to see expansion of employment growth, although still slower than the national economy. The story in Las Cruces continues negative. Employment fell according to both the household survey and the establishment survey for the second month.
