2009 Holiday Retail Sales Forecast: Holiday Sales Predicted to Drop 2.6%

The 2008 holiday season looks to be the worst in over 15 years. The current economic conditions and the financial difficulties facing consumers will make for a very un-merry Christmas for retail sales. Holiday sales declined 4% from 2007 to 2008, the first decline in holiday sales, according to Commerce Department data, since 1967. And unfortunately, holiday sales will likely decrease again this year.
