The New Mexico State University Library Archives and Special Collections Department announces that its Political Papers Unit has completed processing the Health subseries of the Sen. Pete V. Domenici Papers. The 13 boxes of documents and materials are now open to use by researchers. The subseries focuses on legislation, reports and policies related to health care both in New Mexico and the United States.
Researchers will find the materials related to mental health policy in the country, one of the key passions during Domenici’s tenure, of particular interest. “One of the most important pieces would be sections that show Domenici’s work on mental health parity for insurance purposes,” said Adam Heien, Political Papers archivist. “Domenici’s made major contributions for mental health care in this country.”
