New Mexico State University Army and Air Force ROTC leadership planned, prepared and executed a pre-Thanksgiving feast for cadets of ROTC programs on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The ROTC and the Air Force ROTC cadre and staff served cadets a homemade Thanksgiving meal at the Las Cruces campus in Young Hall which houses the military programs. A group of officers and staff split up the cooking of turkeys and hams, and filled dozens of chafing dishes with stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and added countless pies and desserts.
Preparation began in the homes of each chef about 2 a.m. the day of festivities. The food was then transported to campus for the feast and served to the cadets to honor their hours of community service and dedication to the program.
“It is our way of saying ‘thanks’ to these cadets and all they do for their campus, their community and their country,” said Lt. Col. Steve Groll, professor of aerospace studies at NMSU College of Arts and Sciences.
