The latest installment of “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy” book series has been named a finalist for the New Mexico Book Awards.
Edited by Vicki Taggart, this year’s “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy” is a finalist in the political/current events category. The book chronicles the proceedings from the 2010 Pete V. Domenici Public Policy Conference, which took place at New Mexico State. NMSU also is the home of the Pete V. Domenici Institute.
The third book in the series offers transcripts of presentations made by every speaker at the 2010 conference, including the lively debate between Karl Rove, former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to former President George W. Bush, and Joe Lockhart, a former presidential press secretary in the Clinton Administration.
The first “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy” book, released in 2009, won the New Mexico Book Awards’ best anthology prize. The second “Legacy” book, published last year, was a finalist in the best political book category at the 2010 New Mexico Book Awards. The awards, presented by the New Mexico Book Co-op, recognize the best books by New Mexico authors and publishers.
As with previous installments in the series, the latest volume is published by Rio Grande Books in collaboration with New Mexico State University. The book is available online through Rio Grande Books at www.riograndebooks.com, and at Barnes & Noble stores and website, www.bn.com.
Winners of the New Mexico Book Awards will be announced Nov. 18.
