ENRON ON LINE CASE - main menu

Enron is theatre. Making many entrances and exits, between 1985 and 2002, the Enron characters performed their theatre on a variety of stages. The purpose of "Enron is Theatre" is to be a resource to faculty and students doing case study analyses o the rise and collapse of Enron. Theatre is a particularly appropriate case analysis method, since it allows us to see how the masquerade was accomplished by various characters. Enron’s dramaturgy is what Boje and Rosile (2002a, b) call ‘Metatheatre.’ Metatheatre is defined, here, as a multiplicity of theatres (formal, informal, off and on stage) with starring and supporting casts of characters who constitute the ‘concentrated’ and ‘diffuse’ spectacles (Debord, 1967) in theatrical performances experienced by employees, investors, customers and vendors. Enron's Metatheatre ran amuck. For Explorer users, please visit the Enron is Theatre Chat room.
