Effective August 2018, Daniel James joined the Department of Finance as a College Professor teaching business law courses.  Previously, Daniel taught business law as a visiting college assistant professor and also as an adjunct professor at NMSU teaching real estate law and basic business law.   Daniel has been a licensed attorney for 28 years, practicing in Utah, Idaho, and New Mexico (since 2000).  He has represented individuals, business entities, and government agencies (including NMSU) in a wide variety of substantive areas, including commercial transactions and litigation, business formation, business dissolutions, real estate transactions and litigation, easement and boundary line disputes, land use and zoning, unfair trade practices, construction litigation and unlicensed contracting, broker malpractice, accountant malpractice, securities fraud, civil rights, human rights, employment discrimination, guardianships and conservatorships, and probate administration and litigation.  Daniel has appeared in state and federal courts, and has argued before the New Mexico Supreme Court.  Daniel has also served as a United States Marine, professional river guide in the northern and southern hemispheres, high school earth science and physics teacher, firefighter/advanced EMT, deputy sheriff, and Forest Service fire look-out.  Daniel enjoys hiking, camping, Dutch oven cooking, working with German shepherd dogs, and reading about Southwest history.
