Dr. Soyoung Jeon joined the Economics, Applied Statistics, and International Business Department at New Mexico State University as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2020. Dr. Jeon received her Ph.D. in Statistics and Operations Research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. Following this, she received post-doctoral training in Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She then continued her career at Border Biomedical Research Center at the University of Texas at El Paso as a Research Statistician and supported numerous statistical consulting projects. Dr. Jeon has strong interests in interdisciplinary research, especially on developing statistical methods for applications to business, agriculture, biology, and health-related field. Her expertise is environmental statistics, extreme value analysis, and Spatio-temporal modeling.
