Steps for the Principal Investigator

Sponsored Projects Accounting ( SPA ) coordinates all post-award activities and acts on behalf of the founder and investigator.

They will assign a fiscal monitor to each funded project with whom you shall meet.

The award will be identified by a GR# in Banner, the university’s financial system.

The grant number will tie to one or more fund numbers which will be assigned to one or more award index numbers.

Invoicing and financial reporting, effort certification and closeouts are performed by SPA.

How to access COGNOS to query information about recent committed funds and/or account balances:

1. Open your myNMSU account.

2. Select the “Finance” heading.

3. COGNOS is available under “Finance”.
